About Me

Educational History:

  • pantherI am a proud graduate of North Lamar having attended from Kindergarten to my senior year!


  • pjcA&MI attended Paris Junior College and then Texas A&M – Commerce to receive my teaching degree.

  • I taught as a first grade classroom teacher  for three years and continued to teach first graders as a Reading Recovery teacher for 15 years.  I also taught small groups of Kindergarteners and First Graders as a literacy intervention teacher.   I am currently serving dyslexic students in first, second, and third graders as a dyslexia therapist.  

Degrees and Certifications:




 I received my Reading Recovery certification in 2000.



I received my Certified Academic Language Therapist (C.A.L.T) certificate in 2020 to become a dyslexia therapist.

I have attended numerous workshops and professional development seminars during my teaching career and continue to develop my craft by enrolling in workshops and conferences that support my present assignment.  

Current Position:


I began teaching at North Lamar ISD in 2003 on a split assignment as a Reading Recovery and second grade classroom teacher.  I continued teaching Reading Recovery and Literacy Intervention until 2018 when I had the opportunity to train for a dyslexia therapist position in 2020.

Previous Position:

red leavesI started my teaching career at Prosper Elementary in Prosper, Texas, in 1997 as a first grade classroom teacher.  In 1998, I took a position at Detroit Elementary in Detroit, Texas, as a first grade teacher.  In 2000, I trained to be a Reading Recovery teacher and stayed in that position at Detroit until 2003.  

Family Information:

familyI have been married since 1998 and we have a daughter who is a dental hygienist living in Fort Worth and a son who graduated from Northeast Texas Community College with a degree in Industrial Technology while on the rodeo team.  He is proudly serving our country in the Navy as a Nuclear Electrician.  

Personal Information:

cactusMy favorite place is on my back porch swing where I love to read or work crossword puzzles.  I also love to fish.  I love to travel to the mountains of Colorado and Wyoming and long to see Montana and stay in a cabin by a stream.  My favorite things are waterfalls and butterflies.
