Pre-KINDERGARTEN TEACHER
I am a proud 2008 North Lamar graduate! Once a Panther, Always a Panther!!
After graduating high school, I attended Paris Junior College and graduated in May 2010 with my Associates degree in Science. I then attended Texas A&M Commerce and graduated in May 2012 with my Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I am certified EC-6th grade. In 2017, I received my ESL certification!
I have a degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Early Childhood.
I also have an EC-12th grade ESL certification.
In May 2022, I completed The Reading Academy!
I attend numerous professional development opportunities each year here at North Lamar and through Region 8 to keep my certification and teaching skills up to date!
I was a substitute teacher for Pre-K through 3rd grade while I attended college. I started teaching here at Higgins Elementary in August 2012.
My first year here at Higgins, school year 2012-2013, I taught one of our special classes, Computer, to our pre-k – 1st grade students. I then taught Kindergarten for the next 9 years. This is my 7th year to work with ELL students!
This is my 2nd year to teach 4 year old Pre-K!
I was born and raised in Paris, Texas and have lived here my whole life. I had the privilege of attending North Lamar ISD my entire school career. It is a blessing to have the opportunity to teach in a district that I grew up in!
I have 1 sister, a brother in-law, 2 adorable nieces and numerous pets that I love spending time with! My niece Alexandra is 9 years old and is in the 3rd grade and Amelia is 7 years old and is in 1st grade! Both attend school in South Texas and love it!
A few fun facts about me:
When I am not teaching here at school, I love spending time with family and friends! I enjoy watching movies and attending my niece’s sporting events. I love cooking and baking! I teach in the same exact classroom that my sister and I attended Kindergarten in many years ago! : ) And each day, I get to work alongside our Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Penny Stutsman! I am still learning from her! One of my favorite foods is pizza and a favorite snack of mine is popcorn. I was voted by my peers as Teacher of the Year for the 2020-2021 school year!
